Romans 12:1
KJV:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
NIV:
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your true and proper worship.
AMP:
Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies, dedicating all of yourselves, set apart, as a living sacrifice, holy and well, pleasing to God, which is your rational, logical, intelligent act of worship.
Then & Now Reflection:
Then, Paul reminded the Church that real worship was not just in rituals or religious form, but in offering their lives as living sacrifices. Now, we are reminded that every act of surrender, every time we come to God with intention and obedience, we build an altar. And that altar becomes the place where Heaven responds.
Psalm 51:17
KJV:
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
NIV:
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.
